“Piano” is one of the most iconic instrumental compositions by Argentine composer, arranger, and producer Bebu Silvetti. The piece was written, recorded, and released in 1979, appearing on the album Piano (1979), issued by Salsoul Records, a label central to the international disco and orchestral sound of the late 1970s.

By that time, Bebu Silvetti (1946–2003) was already well known for his work as a producer and arranger, but “Piano” became a milestone in his career as a solo artist, establishing him within the elegant instrumental and melodic music scene.

The track gained widespread popularity between 1979 and 1980, particularly in nightclubs and discos across the United States and Europe, where its refined piano melody and sophisticated rhythm made it a staple of instrumental disco and easy dance music.

Over the years, “Piano” moved beyond the disco scene and was embraced by romantic and melodic pianists. Notable artists who have performed or popularized the piece include Raúl Di Blasio, known as The Piano of the Americas, who brought it to Latin American concert halls during the 1990s and 2000s, and Richard Clayderman, a leading figure in European easy listening piano, who helped introduce the composition to a broader international audience.

These interpretations transformed “Piano” into a widely recognized instrumental standard, appreciated not only on dance floors but also in concert settings, piano albums, and refined listening environments.

The version featured on this website is an instrumental interpretation by Sergio Mella, who revisits Bebu Silvetti’s original composition through a modern lens, focusing on expressive piano, easy listening aesthetics, and a lounge atmosphere, while preserving the elegance and emotional depth of the piece.

With its clear melody, smooth harmonic progression, and timeless character, “Piano” remains a landmark instrumental work, continually reinterpreted by new generations of musicians.
